Alert!

Ahhhhh! scary big red letters! what does it mean?!!?!? *starts running in circles like a chicken*

Seriously though, I've noticed a resurgence in an MSN virus thats been around for a while, one that once you get, is really hard to get rid off.  This Virus embeds itself in your registry so if you make a new MSN, that isn't going to help.  Also its not always easy to tell if you have it, but it is easy to tell if someone is sending it to you. (Not that they are trying)

Soooo now its time for.... Common Sense!!!!

Alright, see here sparky, let me put it to you straight, Thomas Paine has been dead for a long while, and I don't think he had the internet.  That doesn't mean the name of his book is invalid (although it had nothing to do with this)

History lesson time!
Thomas Paine (1737-1809) was was an all around smart dude. Credited with writing (what writing? ewwww) many famous papers, most notably Common Sense in 1776.  Why am I telling you this? I teach for a living, so I like boring you about old dead guys who probably wore a lot of wigs  laugh

Whole point of this is, when your using MSN (or AIM, Yahoo, Skype, and whatever other IM programs you use) use common sense.  If someone sends you an IM randomly that says "Is this you? http://fakesite.blah/user=yourMSN@here.com" DON'T CLICK!!!!  even if you trust your friends on MSN completely, ask them what they are sending you, if they say they didn't send anything, once again, DON'T CLICK. (although do tell them they have one)  I'm sure you don't want a virus, and you don't want to give your friend viruses, and if you do, I'll gladly take your computer since obviously you don't need it  cheesy

If you do get it, seeing how hard it is to get rid of, i would recommend you just wipe your hard drive and reinstall windows, make sure you have back ups of what you need though.

If you prefer to go the hard way, good luck! Any Staff member who is willing to help someone get rid of viruses, post you name below *cough* Stealht *cough*

to get rid of the virus a combination of 2 programs mostly works perfectly
1. make a scan with a program called hijack this
2. start a program called Combofix
these 2 together fix most of these viruses
